If you're a licensed lyrics site then you should join the LyricsSeal initiative. While our goal is to create a fully licensed online lyrics space, we need the licensees to create awareness among consumers. We really can't do it without you. But it's not only awareness that we aim to create. We also aim to generate more revenue in the lyrics space for all stakeholders, including you. How? By contacting search companies and giving them the opportunity to identify unlicensed sites, and by giving advertisers the ability to reach your audience without the fear of working with an unlicensed company, to name but two ways.
You've probably received a letter from your licensing/aggregating partner to inform you about this initiative. The best way to start is by contacting your partner to learn how you can become a part of the initiative and how you can obtain the logo and pop-up. We've also developed a reporting tool that allows all members to report sites that publish unlicensed lyrics. Every month this list will be sent out to all search engine companies, with the request to remove these sites from the search engine rankings. This is a move that is supported by the entire industry, and we're looking for your cooperation as well. Our aim is to create a completely legal lyrics space that benefits everyone, but we can't do it alone. With this in mind we'd like to collaborate with as many partners and stakeholders as possible to fulfill this goal. By joining this initiative you'll become part of an effort to promote trusted lyrics on the web, and with your help we fully expect more and more unlicensed sites to become licensed.
Our supporters will push from an initial US reach of around 10M (2011) to over 150M LyricsSeal views per month, which accounts to 70% of lyrics pageviews within three years.
